Walmart Black Friday 2015 ad includes $29 Android tablet, $399 iPad Air 2 Thanksgiving doorbusters

Walmart is the 800-pound gorilla of Black Friday, so everyone gets in a tizzy when the retailer's ad is finally released online. For tech buyers, the news isn't as exciting as for parents looking to buy their kids the latest toys, but there are still a few deals that will be atracting plenty of attention.

While they no longer cause the hysteria of a few years ago, iPads are still one of the staples of Black Friday -- and Walmart obliges with a couple of specials. The 16GB iPad mini 2 will be selling for $199, which is $70 less than Apple is currently selling it for, but is the same price you can get it from Walmart today. A more limited-time deal comes in the form of $100 off the base iPad Air 2 -- very limited, in fact. That price will only be available in store when Walmart locations open on Thanksgiving at 6 p.m. The price is guaranteed for the first hour after opening to avoid some of the infamous brawls that have marred past Black Fridays at the retailer -- if you show up in time to get a guarantee card, then you should be able to get the iPad at that price shipped to the store for you at a later date if that particular location sells out.

That's the extent of iPad specials, but Walmart has a few more tablet specials, all from RCA. One is a 7-inch Android tablet for just $28.88, or a few dollars less than Amazon's Kindle Fire 7. It's specifically advertised as "ad-free," perhaps as a poke to the Kindle Fire's low price being supplemented by ads shown to tablet users. There's also a more robust 10.1-inch Android slate with quad-core processor, 32GB of built-in storage, and a detachable keyboard for $79. Finally, there's a similar Windows 10 tablet (10.1-inch display, 32GB of storage) with detachable keyboard, but at $128, it's nearly $50 more.

Walmart has a trio of laptops in its Black Friday ad, including a Thanksgiving day doorbuster: an HP with Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen for $249. You can obtain a Windows 10 HP with similar specs but lacking touchscreen capabilities for $50, or if you need a little more screen size, there's a 17.3-inch HP with AMD A6 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 500GB hard drive for $299. Surprisingly, Walmart isn't running deals on any 2-in-1 devices from leading laptop manufacturers, relying on RCA's bargain-priced hybrids instead.
