Holly Holm-Ronda Rousey rematch targeted for July 9 in Las Vegas

The UFC has a target date and location in mind for the Holly Holm-Ronda Rousey rematch, USA TODAY Sports confirmed Thursday.
July 9 in Las Vegas.
The rematch, however, hasn’t been solidified. The respective Holm and Rousey camps both must agree on the date and that hasn’t happened yet, a person with knowledge of the negotiations who is not authorized to speak publicly told USA TODAY Sports.
That’d be a long wait for fans to see how Rousey responds to her first professional loss. Holm knocked out Rousey in the second round in Australia on Nov. 14 to claim the UFC women's bantamweight title.
The Los Angeles Times, the first outlet to report that the rematch could occur this July, reported that Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, doesn’t  feel the ninth-month layoff would be enough time for Rousey.
“I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight,” Fresquez told the newspaper. “She took a severe beating and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she’s been ready and cleared, but … .”
Holm expressed interest in fighting sooner and is ready to defend her belt against an opponent other than Rousey. But UFC president Dana White said that Holm’s next fight would be against Rousey.
